Friday releases, 6 November: Suriya’s Scene, Summer Holidays and Nayanthara’s Mahasakthi in theatres; I’m Game streams in Telugu

Suriya's Scene, the Godavari-village family film Summer Holidays and Nayanthara's Mahasakthi open in theatres on Friday, 6 November, while Dulquer Salmaan's I'm Game starts streaming in Telugu on JioHotstar.

Suriya, in a dark T-shirt and cargo shorts, walks down a smoky prison corridor as inmates reach through the bars and steel plates lie scattered on the floor.

Scene, the new crime thriller starring Suriya, heads the Friday releases on 6 November and opens in Telugu and Tamil across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Two more films open the same day: the Telugu family film Summer Holidays and Nayanthara’s Mahasakthi. On streaming, Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game arrives on JioHotstar with a Telugu version, two days before Deepavali on Sunday, 8 November.

Scene is the first Tamil film of Jithu Madhavan, the Malayalam director who made Aavesham. Suriya plays Inbaraj, a police officer whom even hardened prisoners dread, with Nazriya Nazim as the female lead and Naslen as the villain. Suriya and Jyothika produce it under 2D Entertainment and Jagaram Studios, Jayashree Damodaran is co-producer and Sushin Shyam has composed the music. The film carries a U/A 16+ certificate and runs 2 hours 29 minutes. NVR Cinema is distributing it in the two Telugu states.

A Godavari summer and a goddess sequel

Summer Holidays, a straight Telugu film, comes from director Srikar Nayan G and the Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainments banner. Set in 2000, it follows a city boy who spends his school break at his grandmother’s place in a Godavari village and befriends the local newspaper boy. The two boys are played by Master Rohan Roy and Master Arun Dev Pothula, with Baby Khushi, Jayasudha, Rajeev Kanakala and Harshavardhan in supporting parts and music by Sinjith Yerramilli. Geetha Film Distributors has the Nizam release and Vision Cinemas the Ceded area.

Mahasakthi is the Telugu version of Mookuthi Amman 2, Sundar C’s devotional fantasy in which Nayanthara returns as the goddess. Regina Cassandra is the villain, and Duniya Vijay, Yogi Babu, Urvashi and Abhinaya are in the cast. Vels Film International and Rowdy Pictures produce the film, which also has a U/A 16+ certificate. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1, which opened in Telugu on Thursday, 5 November, enters its second day in theatres.

New on streaming

I’m Game, the Malayalam action thriller from RDX director Nahas Hidayath, streams on JioHotstar from 6 November in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi. Dulquer Salmaan plays Dan, a rich young man who trusts money and luck until an accident throws his life off course, and he also produces the film under his Wayfarer Films banner. Mysskin, Antony Varghese and Kayadu Lohar lead the supporting cast, and Jakes Bejoy composed the score.

SonyLIV opens Meesaya Murukku 2 on the same day, with a Telugu dubbed version beside the Tamil original. Hiphop Tamizha Adhi directs, scores and plays the lead in the sequel, which ran in theatres from September. In theatres, Itllu Arjuna, the Aniesh and Anaswara Rajan romance presented by Nagarjuna, is set to follow on Friday, 13 November.
