Dasara week on OTT: Nani’s The Paradise streams on Netflix from 22 October, Dorothy a day later

Nani’s The Paradise will begin streaming on Netflix on Thursday, 22 October, two days after Vijayadashami, making it the most prominent Telugu title among the Dasara week OTT releases. The official release poster, which carries the Netflix logo and the date, lists five languages: the original Telugu, plus Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions.

Srikanth Odela directed the film, an action drama built around a community’s fight to survive. Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead and veteran actor Mohan Babu is cast as the antagonist, with Sonali Kulkarni and Raghav Juyal in important roles. Sudhakar Cherukuri produced it under the SLV Cinemas banner, and Anirudh Ravichander composed the music.

The film comes to the platform after its run in cinemas. The producers have not released final collection figures, so Telugu Scope is not offering a verdict on its theatrical performance.

Theatrical cut or a longer version?

The open question for viewers is which version Netflix will carry. Some scenes were trimmed to manage the running time in cinemas, and it is not yet clear whether the streaming release will match the theatrical cut or restore some of that footage. The makers have not addressed this publicly, so the answer may only be known when the film goes live on 22 October.

Dorothy follows on 23 October

A day later, Keerthy Suresh’s Dorothy is listed to premiere on Netflix on Friday, 23 October. Karthik Subbaraj directed the film and Ilaiyaraaja composed its music. Keerthy plays the title role, with Sananth and Rishikanth in the supporting cast.

Dorothy was made in Tamil and will be available with a Telugu dub. Netflix has not formally announced the 23 October date, so viewers may want to check the app on the day.

Telugu series this week

Two Telugu web series also premiere on Thursday, 22 October:

• Varam, a Telugu series, on JioHotstar.
• Naa Wife Missing, an Aha original series, on Aha.

The rest of the Dasara week OTT releases are largely Hindi and international titles. Platforms often add releases at short notice during festival weeks, so the line-up may grow before the weekend.
