Eight years after Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi sent four old friends on a road trip to Goa, writer-director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam has put the same gang back on the road. The ENE Repeat trailer was launched at an event on Tuesday, 3 November, and the sequel opens in theatres worldwide on Thursday, 19 November.

The official trailer, a little over three minutes long, went up on the Think Music Telugu YouTube channel and had crossed 1.6 million views by the early hours of Wednesday. It brings back Vishwak Sen, Abhiinav Gomatam and Venkatesh Kakumanu from the 2018 film. Srinath Maganti joins them as the fourth friend in place of Sushanth Reddy, who was part of the first film. Anisha Ambrose is back as well, while Shivathmika Rajasekhar, Karunakumar, Priyadarshini Ram and Mahesh Bhascker are also in the cast.

From a short film to a feature

In the original, the four friends had drifted apart as adults, came together again for a trip to Goa and, after one mishap after another, ended up shooting a short film. The sequel sets them a bigger task. In the new trailer, the gang tries to turn out a proper feature film this time, and trouble follows them at every step.

The makers fixed the 19 November date at the end of June, when they marked eight years of the first film, which had reached theatres on 29 June 2018. Over the years it built a strong following among young viewers, and in 2023, five years after its first run, it was brought back to cinemas.

The team behind the sequel

Srujan Yarabolu and Sandeep Nagireddy produce ENE Repeat under the SS Originals and Rootnode Cinema banners. Vivek Sagar, who scored the music for the first film, returns as composer, and AJ Aaron handles the camera. The release will be Vishwak Sen’s second in theatres within three weeks: his self-directed slasher Cult opened on 30 October (read our Cult review).
