Ranabaali slows in its second week: Rs 54 crore net in 11 days as Jailer 2 crosses Rs 400 crore in India

Trade estimates give Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali a second weekend of Rs 7.8 crore and a Monday of Rs 1.25 crore. Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 reached Rs 408 crore net in India on its twelfth day and Rs 700 crore worldwide.

The two big Dasara releases have gone their separate ways in the second week. Ranabaali, with Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has collected Rs 54.25 crore net in India in 11 days, by trade estimates, for a gross of Rs 63 crore and, with Rs 12.2 crore from overseas, about Rs 75 crore worldwide. In the same stretch Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 passed Rs 400 crore net in India and became the first Tamil film to reach Rs 700 crore worldwide.

Ranabaali’s first week brought Rs 45.2 crore net. The second weekend settled at Rs 7.8 crore: Rs 2.1 crore on Friday, Rs 2.8 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.9 crore on Sunday. Monday added Rs 1.25 crore from 1,510 shows at 22 percent occupancy, and advance bookings for 28 October stood at about Rs 1.35 crore gross early on Tuesday. The producers have not released final figures; everything here is a trade estimate.

Jailer 2 keeps running

Jailer 2 took Rs 9.45 crore net from 10,450 shows on Monday, its twelfth day, lifting its India net to Rs 408 crore and gross to Rs 478 crore. Overseas collections stand at Rs 255 crore. The trade is now watching whether it overtakes the 2018 film 2.0 in the coming days as the highest-grossing Tamil film in India.

Vishwak Sen’s Cult and the Venkatesh and Trivikram film Aadarsha Kutumbam reach theatres on 30 October, and both Ranabaali and Jailer 2 will give up Telugu screens from that day. The final shape of both runs should be clear by the end of the second week.
