Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 will start streaming on Prime Video on Thursday, 12 November, four weeks after it opened in cinemas. The service announced the Jailer 2 OTT premiere in Mumbai on Thursday, 5 November, and viewers can pick Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam or Kannada audio.

Prime Video said the premiere covers India and over 240 countries and territories. Telugu and Tamil families in the US, the UK, the Gulf and Australia can watch it on the same date as subscribers at home, with the Telugu dub on offer from the first day.

Muthuvel Pandian is back

Nelson Dilipkumar wrote and directed the sequel, and Kalanithi Maran produced it under the Sun Pictures banner. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music. Rajinikanth again plays Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer, who is dragged back into action when a crime syndicate with political and overseas links goes after his family and old enemies return to settle scores.

Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi appear in special roles. SJ Suryah, Shivarajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Namo Narayana and Yogi Babu complete the cast.

28 days from theatre to streaming

Jailer 2 reached theatres on Thursday, 15 October, so the streaming date falls exactly 28 days after its release.

The first film, released in 2023, is already on Prime Video, which means subscribers can watch the two chapters one after the other. In a statement issued with the announcement, Nelson said the sequel would join the original on the service and reach viewers in India and abroad.

Prime Video has not said whether the streaming cut will be longer than the version shown in cinemas, or at what hour the film will go live on 12 November.
