Anyone crossing Khairatabad, the Secretariat or Tank Bund should budget for longer routes until 6 am on Saturday, 24 October, with several roads around Hussain Sagar set aside for Durga Matha idol processions. Hyderabad Traffic Police began the diversions at 3 pm on 21 October for immersions at People’s Plaza, Garden Point and purpose-built ponds at Sanjeevaiah Park and Jalavihar, and said curbs would apply as traffic demands.

Where traffic is being turned

  • VV Statue: Khairatabad flyover traffic from Punjagutta and Raj Bhavan Road goes to Nirankari Junction; only idol vehicles carry on.
  • Old Saifabad police station: Iqbal Minar-bound traffic from Nirankari turns towards Ravindra Bharathi and Masab Tank.
  • Iqbal Minar: Secretariat-bound vehicles go over the Telangana Thalli flyover to Lower Tank Bund.
  • Printing Press Junction: vehicles from the Bada Ganesh lane and Mint Compound cannot reach Necklace Rotary and are sent back to the Rajiv Gandhi statue and Mint Compound.
  • Old Ambedkar statue: Upper Tank Bund traffic for the Secretariat goes to Liberty; Liberty traffic goes to Upper Tank Bund. The run past Secretariat Junction along NTR Marg to Necklace Road is for idol vehicles alone.
  • Sonabi Abdullah Masjid: Upper Tank Bund traffic for Nallagutta bridge and PV Marg moves to Minister Road via Karbala and Ranigunj. Necklace Road traffic from Ranigunj and Minister Road is turned back at Nallagutta X Roads.

Police advised motorists to keep clear of Nallagutta X Roads, Upper Tank Bund, Liberty, Ravindra Bharathi, Old Saifabad police station and VV Statue until the curbs lift.
