Ram Charan and Sukumar Set to Begin RC17 With a Pooja on 26 or 27 October

The long wait for Ram Charan and Sukumar’s next film is close to its first formal step. Ravi Shankar Yellamanchili of Mythri Movie Makers has said the film, known for now as RC17, will be launched with a pooja ceremony on 26 or 27 October, at an auspicious time.

Ravi Shankar spoke about the project at the teaser event of Donga Naa Koduku, a Mythri production starring Mouli, when he was asked for an update. He said the team had wanted to start on Dussehra but there was no auspicious date to begin the journey. The producer has not named a venue for the ceremony, and the exact day, 26 or 27 October, is to be fixed by the muhurtham.

How the project came about

The film was announced on 25 March 2024 on the social media accounts of Mythri Movie Makers, which is producing it together with Sukumar Writings. It reunites Ram Charan with Sukumar, who directed him in Rangasthalam (2018), the village drama.

The launch is the first formal step of the project.

Music: no confirmation yet

Devi Sri Prasad was named as the music director when the film was announced in 2024, and he has composed the music for Sukumar’s films for years. This time Ravi Shankar did not confirm him. Asked about it, he praised the composer, who has worked on about seven films for the Mythri banner, and said he has “enough potential to deliver great music in the days to come”.

On whether he will score RC17, the producer said the decision rests with Sukumar. He added that the team is waiting for the director to return from London. No other composer has been announced by the makers.

What is still open

• The heroine and the rest of the cast have not been announced. Ram Charan is the only confirmed name in the cast.
• The title is still tentative. RC17 is the working title.
• The makers have not announced a release date or a shooting schedule.

Further details on the cast and technical team are awaited once the project formally begins.
