Prime Video’s The Traitors Telugu, a reality competition built on deception, went live on Thursday, 15 October, with actor Teja Sajja as host. The first three episodes were released together, and the platform has said fresh episodes will be added every Thursday at 12 noon. The season runs to 10 episodes, so the next batch is due on 22 October.

Twenty contestants from films, music, television and social media are taking part, playing for a prize pot of up to ₹1 crore. The show marks Teja Sajja’s first outing as a reality-television host. Speaking when the trailer was launched on 6 October, he called the job an entirely new experience for him and described the show as a significant moment for Telugu entertainment.

How the game works

At the start, a handful of players are secretly picked as Traitors, while the rest play as Innocents. Each night the Traitors quietly “murder” one of the other players, removing them from the game. During the day, the whole group meets to debate who might be lying and votes to banish a suspect. The Innocents win if they root out every Traitor; if a Traitor survives to the end, the Traitors can walk away with the money. Group missions along the way add to the prize fund.

The format began in the Netherlands as De Verraders and has since been remade in many countries. Prime Video already runs a Hindi version, and the Telugu season follows its second edition.
