October GST collections rise 22.9% to Rs 2.31 lakh crore; Andhra Pradesh up 24%, Telangana 14%

Gross GST for October 2026 rose 22.9% on a year earlier to Rs 2,31,290 crore, with tax on imports rising 42.2%. Andhra Pradesh's domestic collections grew 24% and Telangana's 14%, provisional figures released on Sunday, 1 November, show.

October GST collections came to Rs 2,31,290 crore, 22.9% more than the Rs 1,88,125 crore gathered in October 2025. The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) released the provisional figures on Sunday, 1 November. In the state tables, GST raised within Andhra Pradesh grew faster than in any other southern state, climbing 24% to Rs 4,307 crore, while Telangana’s rose 14% to Rs 5,958 crore.

Imports did much of the lifting. Integrated GST (IGST) on imported goods came to Rs 72,246 crore, up 42.2% from Rs 50,796 crore. Revenue from domestic transactions grew at a slower 15.8%, to Rs 1,59,044 crore. Refunds paid out rose 6.5% to Rs 27,934 crore, which left net collections at Rs 2,03,356 crore, an increase of 25.6%.

The October total still falls short of the all-time monthly high of about Rs 2.43 lakh crore set in April 2026. Over April to October of 2026-27, gross collections added up to Rs 14,77,569 crore, 13.2% more than in the same stretch of 2025-26. Net revenue for those seven months grew 12.6% to Rs 12,69,486 crore.

How the two Telugu states fared

The state tables count domestic GST alone and leave out tax on imports. On that measure, Kerala came closest to Andhra Pradesh’s 24% among the five southern states, at 23%, followed by Karnataka at 18%, Telangana at 14% and Tamil Nadu at 3%. Domestic collections across the country grew 16% on the same basis.

What finally lands in a state treasury is the post-settlement SGST: the state’s own SGST plus the share of IGST that the Centre passes on to it. For October, Andhra Pradesh received Rs 3,582 crore on that count, up 19%, and Telangana Rs 4,790 crore, up 17%. Over April to October the settled amount grew 18% for both, to Rs 23,180 crore for Andhra Pradesh and Rs 31,077 crore for Telangana.

A slower seven months for Andhra Pradesh

Over the full seven months, it is Telangana that has grown faster. Andhra Pradesh collected Rs 26,299 crore between April and October, only 3.1% more than a year earlier, while Telangana’s Rs 39,723 crore was up 13.8%. Telangana’s own accounts for April to September had put the state’s GST receipts at Rs 29,565 crore. The GSTN noted that the October numbers could shift a little when the accounts are finalised.
