Two new Telugu originals reach streaming platforms on 22 October: JioHotstar’s series Varam and aha’s film Na Wife Missing. Both platforms announced the date in their official trailers.

Varam on JioHotstar

Varam, made under JioHotstar’s Hotstar Specials label, streams from 22 October. The platform first announced the date on 1 October and released the trailer on 8 October. Its promotional copy promises a story of magic, miracles and destiny, built around a man whose boon lets him change fates, fortunes and the future with a single notification. The trailer’s tagline turns on money: whoever holds it, it says, is treated like god.

Vishwadev Rachakonda and Shivatmika Rajashekar lead the cast, with Avasarala Srinivas, Sivaji Raja, Surabhi Prabhavathi and Sruthy Jayan in supporting roles. Aditya Mandala directs from a script by Akshay Poolla. Sushmita Konidela is the producer and Sidharth Sadasivuni composed the music.

Na Wife Missing on aha

aha premieres its original film Na Wife Missing on the same day, in Telugu and Tamil. Varun Sandesh and Shweta Basu Prasad, who were first paired in Kotha Bangaru Lokam, play the leads in a mystery that, as the title says, begins with a wife who goes missing.

The platform released the trailer on 19 October. Director VV Vinayak launched the teaser earlier in October, and director K Raghavendra Rao released the song Arere Vinavaa, sung by Anurag Kulkarni.

Also on 22 October

Netflix releases Nani’s The Paradise the same day, and Prime Video adds new episodes of The Traitors Telugu. We covered both earlier: The Paradise and the Dasara week OTT releases, and The Traitors Telugu on Prime Video.

Coming next

ZEE5 has scheduled its Telugu original Rudravanam PS for 30 October. The seven-episode investigative mini-series stars Naresh Agastya as Sub-Inspector Sivakumar, whose inquiry into a headless body and a missing man leads him into corruption, local power games and old secrets. Banerjee plays Circle Inspector Venugopal. Actor Nikhil launched the trailer, which ZEE5 released on 20 October.

All release dates in this list are as announced by the platforms themselves.
